The California Center for Cooperative Development (CCCD) has awarded $75,000 in micro-grants through its partnership with the state’s Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) Entrepreneurship program. The program was launched to provide vital support for the development and continuation of worker cooperatives in target populations facing significant barriers to employments, such as immigrants, refugees, and those with limited English proficiency.

The residents of Comunidad Nuevo Lago (CNL), formally known as Shady Lakes Mobile Home Park, closed escrow on the cooperative’s purchase of their community from an investor-owner.

The SEED Microgrant Round 3 grant cycle is open for eligible groups and worker cooperatives in California! Funds are made possible through a grant to CCCD from the State of California Employment Training Panel. Awards are up to $7,000.

This report offers a path to address the crises of increasing racial and economic inequality, exacerbated by the pandemic and its economic and social impacts, with a time-tested solution: cooperatives. The publication presents the landscape of worker, housing and childcare cooperatives, the ecosystems that support them, examples, and policy opportunities to help them flourish.

CCCD’s collection of webinar workshop recordings cater to varying experience levels and is relevant to a multitude of types of co-ops.  Some workshops are applicable across the various sectors of cooperatives, and others provide introductory or other information applicable to specific sectors.

Derived from the efforts and expertise of many partners and support organizations, CCCD presents a resource list for California co-ops navigating business and member hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CCCD and other members of CooperationWorks! are offering daily office hours on Zoom, so co-ops across the country can log on and consult with a real live co-op developer in this time of crisis.
